Born in Chester, Pennsylvania (birthplace of Ft. Lauderdale’s beloved Laspada’s), Bill Rodowsky has carved a distinguished career in physical therapy. With his educational roots in the culinary arts, his approach to therapy is guided by his belief that “there are no cookbooks or recipes in physical therapy.”
Bill embarked on his career as a Traveling Physical Therapist, gaining invaluable experience from Houston to Baton Rouge to Boston before settling in Fort Lauderdale about 30 years ago. Before finding Back to Health he worked for a group of orthopedic surgeons where his commitment to hands-on therapy was discouraged in favor of over-reliance on machines and cookie-cutter treatment plans.
Since 2011, Bill has contributed significantly to Back to Health as a dedicated Physical Therapy Assistant, where his holistic approach is embraced and encouraged. Unlike traditional practices, Back to Health prioritizes individualized patient care and therapeutic relationships over standardized treatments. This environment allows Bill the freedom to implement innovative therapies and devote ample time to each patient’s needs, fostering deeper connections and better outcomes.
Bill is often heard telling patients, “Don’t let your chronic position become your chronic condition,” and he practices what he preaches. Alongside his clinical work, Bill pursues continuous learning, including certifications in myokinesthetics, therapeutic yoga and massage therapy. His approach emphasizes manual therapy, integrating insights from yoga and other disciplines to enhance patient care.
The inspiring instructor behind Back to Health’s Happy Back Yoga and Yoga for Every Body, Bill teaches participants about the body and spine through gentle, slow movement. Creating an ideal environment for both those with orthopedic issues and beginners who want to practice safely, he teaches how to modify poses, avoid potentially harmful movements, and identify what benefits their unique needs. Beyond his clinical role, Bill is passionate about education and writing, currently focusing on his forthcoming book, “Beyond the Paddle: Avoiding Pickleball Injuries.” In his leisure time, he enjoys nuanced comedies like “HACKS” and rediscovered classics such as “Shogun.”
